Egypt Raises E-Visa Fees for Tourists: 2026 Update
Egypt has officially announced a new update regarding the costs for travelers entering its territories, raising the fees for the tourist electronic visa (e-Visa) for 2026. This decision comes as part of a comprehensive review of consular service fees, covering travelers who prefer to complete their procedures digitally before heading to Egyptian tourist destinations, aimed at ensuring smooth movement in airports and reducing waiting times upon arrival.
This step holds significant importance for a wide sector of tourists and travelers, especially as it coincides with similar measures applied to direct entry visas at Egyptian airports since early March. This update aims to regulate visitor flows while offering digital solutions that save time and effort. Below, we will review all details related to the new prices, validity periods, and updated application steps.
The new price list for 2026 has come into effect. Fees for the single-entry tourist e-Visa have risen to 30 US dollars, up from 25 dollars where they had been stable for a long time. As for the multiple-entry visa, it also saw a slight increase, reaching 65 US dollars instead of 60 dollars. This increase applies to all applicants via the official portal and is similar to the increase approved by authorities for "visa on arrival" at airports since March 1, 2026.
Despite this rise in costs, the e-Visa remains the most efficient option for travelers as it helps them avoid crowds at passport counters and provides peace of mind before traveling. Regarding residence regulations, the single-entry visa grants its holder the right to stay in Egypt for up to 30 days during a three-month validity period, while the multiple-entry visa offers a total validity of six months, allowing a stay of no more than 30 days per separate visit.
The application mechanism involves clear digital steps starting with creating an account on Egypt's official e-Visa portal, followed by accurately filling personal data and planned travel details, then uploading a scanned copy of the passport and paying fees via bank card. To ensure the acceptance of the application and avoid rejection, the following documents must be prepared:
- Valid passport for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
- Clear digital copy of the biographical data page (first page) of the passport.
- Active email address for receiving the digital visa document.
- Valid credit or pre-paid debit card for electronic fee payment.
It should be noted that the purpose of this visa is limited to tourism, visiting friends and relatives, or short recreational trips, and it does not cover business purposes or long-term residency under any circumstances. Officials also emphasize that obtaining an e-Visa does not constitute a final guarantee of entry, as the final decision-making authority rests with immigration officers at points of entry, necessitating the retention of a printed copy of the approved visa for presentation upon request.
The updates for travel to Egypt in 2026 are summarized in this limited increase, which aims to enhance the quality of digital services provided to tourists. With these fees continuously applied since early March, authorities advise travelers to apply through the official website well in advance of their travel date to avoid any administrative delays, while emphasizing that transparency in providing information is the best guarantee for a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience in the land of Kinana.
